Our own Seaboard Township Neighbor Kathy Carter Is Running for Hiram City Council
Hello Neighbors,
Please see the announcement below from Kathy Carter. She lives in Seaboard Township and is running for Hiram City Council.
She is requesting our support at the poles, so please get out and vote November 5th.
PLEASE VOTE NOV. 5TH
ELECT
Kathy CARTER
HIRAM CITY COUNCIL
Hi. I’m Kathy Carter. I’m your neighbor here in Hiram. I live in Seaboard Township and I am running
for Hiram City Council. I’ve never run
for public office before. When friends mentioned
there was an opening on the city council and suggested I run for the seat, I
said, “Not me! I don’t know anything about city politics.” They answered that
was what would make me good…that, and the fact that I care about our city.
I’ve lived in Hiram almost seven
years having moved here from West Palm Beach, FL. One of my dearest friends and
her family have always lived in Hiram. I’ve been visiting here since the 1970’s
and watched Hiram grow from a tiny little place that I had trouble finding, to
a place that I’m now happy to call home. I always tell everyone that everything
I need is right here within a 3 mile radius; shopping, banking, a park to take
my granddaughters to feed the ducks, my office (less than 2 miles up the road)
and the Silver Comet Trail where I walk (at least that’s the plan…3-4 times a
week).
I’m employed by Family
Intervention Specialists. My training is in social work but my title is
Community Outreach Specialist. I’m
community-minded and am a board member of the Family Alliance of Paulding, also
located here in Hiram. Through my employment I’m involved in many
family-focused initiatives across Paulding County. My daughter, Kathryn, is a school
psychologist with the Paulding County School System.
If elected I want to be part of
helping Hiram continue to move in the positive direction I’ve seen it expand
into since moving here. It’s a
family-friendly community with old fashioned values. Recently, I’ve watched as
some of the stores in our downtown have closed. I very much want to see Old
Town Hiram come back to life. Hand in
hand with downtown development is economic development. I want to see more
businesses fall in love with our town and see the value of setting up shop here. I love the community events Hiram offers such
as Christmas in Old Town Hiram, 5K’s along the Silver Comet Trail and holiday
celebrations in the park. I would like
to be part of bringing more of those events to town to encourage citizens to
feel connected and develop a strong sense of community. I care about Hiram and am proud to call it my
home. I have a lot of enthusiasm and energy and I catch on fast! If elected I believe I can be part of helping
make Hiram a better place for us, our children and our grandchildren.
Please vote on November 5, 2013
at the Hiram Community Center (7am-7pm).
We are expecting a small
turnout at the polls so every vote is going to be very important. Especially yours!
To request an absentee ballot
to vote by mail, or if you have other questions, please call the Paulding
County voter registrar at 770-443-7503 ASAP.
Thanks!

Seaboard Township - Discounts for painting units
Thanks to everyone that responded and wanted to partner together with the painting endeavor.
I've attached the name of 3 vendors that are willing to paint our units and willing to give a discount. The challenge is that these vendors will give a discount but will need to price each unit individually. Also, they would like to tackle more than one home in a day so that they benefit from coming to our community. Two of the three listed below were referred by our fellow residents.
Advice: Either partner with a neighbor to schedule your work for the same day or ask the vendor when he will be painting other homes in the neighborhood so that you can benefit from a discount.
I wish it would've worked out to be a little easier than this.

Jerry Miller Painting 678 793 7489. (referred by homeowner)

I hope this helps! Thank you.

Also, we can explore the option of getting a special rate from other providers in the area. Please let us know if you would be interested in joining together to attempt to get special pricing for our community.
Please reply by Oct.1st so that we can use the number of interested homeowners as leverage. Feel free to submit other ideas as well.

Seaboard Township Covenants

Your Seaboard Township Board Members!
Hello fellow Seaboard Township Community members,
Recently notices were sent out to some homes in the community that are in need of painting, or touch up . There seems to be some misunderstanding regarding who is responsible for having the work done.
As things stand currently, all homeowners are responsible for the painting and all other general maintenance issues on their properties, with the
exception of the lawn care.
Until we have a two-thirds majority vote from the entire ownership we cannot make changes to our covenants to have the painting and other
amenities covered. This, of course would result in an increase in the quarterly dues.
We are awaiting a response from the developer of the 80 back lots to come on board so that we can put to vote having the painting and other maintenance issues covered, as well as whatever dues increase that would be necessary. Once again, it will take a two-thirds majority vote to from the entire community, including the 80 back lots to get this approved and make changes to the covenants.
Whenever notices such as these are sent out, the board has taken the time to look at the things that need to be done. We have walked through the community, along with a member of All In One, and made note of what needs to be done. All In One then sends out the notices on our behalf. That's one of the reasons we have a management company.
We are not able to always see everything that needs to be done, so if there are some issues that need addressing, please feel free to contact us at : seaboardtownship@gmail.com. Also, the board asks that you become familiar with the covenants. This may help clear up some of the questions you may have.
Everyone should have received a copy of the covenants at their closing.
Thank you,
Your HOA Board, Seaboard Township
